Ellie Goulding Mama Remix

I love listening to music from today’s electro pop artists so when I found out about the Ellie Goulding Mama remix contest, I had to enter. What’s great about the Ellie Goulding Mama remix is how producers will get an opportunity to work with a Grammy nominated artist.  You don’t see many remix contests pop up with such a high caliber performer. So I had to jump on it.

The original track is produced by Clean Bandit, a British electronic music band.  The track is inspired with a dancehall vibe. Clean Bandit brings crossover music styles to high-profile artists such as Demi Lovato, Zara Larsson, Sean Paul, and collaborates with Diplo, Kygo, Madeon, and Major Lazer.

The remix I produced for this song also incorporated various crossover genres with pop, electro, and some latin which was included from the original track. I wanted to present a big “poppy” drum and snare foundation and have various electronic and acoustic elements that melodically weave in and out of the song complimenting Ellie’s catchy vocals. The initial goal for the Ellie Goulding remix wasn’t to make the track to repetitive but rather evolving throughout by continuously escalating the tension and energy with a fulfilling climax.
